Payment

All payments for services must be made by the customer in United States dollars through an approved payment processor, such as Authorize.net or WePay. All payments are non-refundable unless an exception is granted by a SmartVinAudit representative. Applicable sales tax may be charged based on the customer’s billing ZIP code. For residents of Washington State, local and state taxes will be applied according to the rates established by the Washington State Department of Revenue.

Right to Access and Use Vehicle History Reports

You are granted a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, and non-transferable license to access and use the Vehicle History Reports (“Reports”) generated by SmartVinAudit, solely for your personal use and in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. You may not modify, publish, transmit, display, transfer, sell, assign, rent, sublicense, or grant any rights in the Reports to any other person or entity. Furthermore, you may not exploit any part of the Reports or their content in any way. Except as explicitly permitted under these Terms and Conditions or by applicable copyright law, copying, redistribution, retransmission, publication, or commercial exploitation of downloaded materials is prohibited without prior written consent from SmartVinAudit.

NMVTIS Consumer Access Product Disclaimer

The National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) is an electronic database that contains information on certain vehicles titled in the United States. It serves as a trusted source for title and brand history but does not provide detailed information regarding a vehicle’s repair history.

Federal law mandates that states, insurance companies, and junk and salvage yards regularly report data to NMVTIS. However, not all vehicles are included, as some states still do not provide their data to the system. States that do report to NMVTIS do so at different intervals, with some updating data in real-time, while others update within 24 hours or several days.

NMVTIS may not include records of significant vehicle damage if the vehicle was never declared a “total loss” by an insurance company or branded as such by a state titling agency. Conversely, an insurance company may be required to report a vehicle as a “total loss” even if the state has not branded it as “salvage” or “junk.”

A vehicle history report from NMVTIS does not replace the need for an independent vehicle inspection. Consumers are strongly encouraged to have vehicles inspected independently to check for any hidden damage. While approved NMVTIS Data Providers may include condition data from other sources, the NMVTIS system itself includes:

Data from participating state motor vehicle titling agencies.
Information on various vehicle types, including automobiles, buses, trucks, motorcycles, RVs, and tractors (though commercial vehicles may not be fully included in all states).
“Brand” information from participating state agencies, which may vary by state but can provide insight into a vehicle’s condition or history.
The most recent odometer reading recorded in a state’s title record.
Data from insurance companies and auto recyclers (junk and salvage yards) reporting total loss vehicles from March 31, 2009, onward.
Records from junk and salvage yards that participated in the Consumer Assistance to Recycle and Save Act of 2009 (CARS) Program.
